The volume of traditional art is very large and I have the feeling that we digital artists are a little left out precisely because we are not part of this secular medium of traditional art. Last year, digital art, AIs, NFTs and other digital media generated billions of dollars in sales. Wouldn't it be cool to give more prominence and look better at works made with AI? Did you know that the Impressionists were despised and ignored at the beginning of the Impressionism movement? I often explain that, for example, when I write a prompt, I put all my knowledge to generate what I want within the AIs. When I write a prompt, I my first visit to the Matisse Museum in Nice, the Uffizi, the Louvre, crying inside the sanatorium in Arles where Van Gogh was interned, almost kneeling into the Picasso Museum in Barcelona, getting emotional when I stood in front of the Velasquez girls at the Prado Museum, the first time I won an award at the Art Salon, selling my first painting, and even hearing from a client that a hummingbird mistook the flowers in my painting in his house for real flowers, and many other stories. I won't even talk about going into the Vatican and the Sistine Chapel here because I would have to write hundreds of texts about that. Everything I experience, learn, and get emotional about goes into my prompt when I write, and that's not easy. Writing a prompt asking for a woman in a red dress sitting on a bench is easy. But a prompt is more than that. Writing a prompt is knowledge, and not knowing how to do it is generating an image as common and boring as a blank canvas.

O volume de arte tradicional é muito grande e tenho a sensação que nós artistas digitais estamos um pouco de lado justamente por não fazer parte deste meio secular de arte tradicional. No ano ado a arte digital, IAs, NFTs e outras mídias digitais movimentaram bilhões de dólares em vendas. Não seria legal dar mais destaque e olharmos melhor para obras feitas com IA? Muitas vezes explico que eu por exemplo quando escrevo um prompt coloco todo o meu conhecimento para gerar o que eu quero dentro das IAs. Quando escrevo um prompt lembro de minha primeira visita no Museu Matisse em Nice, no Uffizi, no Louvre, de chorar dentro do sanatório em Arles onde Van Gogh ficou internado, de quase entrar ajoelhado no Museu Picasso em Barcelona, me emocionar ao ficar frente á frente das meninas de Valasquez no Museu do Prado, da primeira vez que ganhei um prêmio no Salão de artes, de vender o meu primeiro quadro e até mesmo de saber de um cliente meu de que um beija-flor confundiu as flores do meu quadro na casa dele com flores reais e muitas outras histórias. Nem vou falar aqui sobre entrar no Vaticano e sobre a Capela Sistina porque teria centenas de textos sobre isso. Tudo que eu vivo, aprendo e me emociono vai para o meu prompt quando escrevo e isso não é fácil. Escrever um prompt pedindo uma mulher de vestido vermelho sentada num banco é fácil. Mas um prompt é mais do que isso. Escrever um prompt é conhecimento e não saber fazer isso é gerar uma imagem tão sem graça quanto uma tela em branco.

AI is just another tool for the artist's expression, so don't be afraid of it. There are artists who use special sable brushes while others use brooms and brushes to paint and others use iPad pens. What matters is the end result of what the artist wants to express. I have painted hundreds of canvases, hundreds of drawings on paper, collages, engravings, watercolors, exhibitions, etc., but I happily discovered digital art. I am a great portrait artist and a good photographer, for example, but I also learned how to express myself as an artist and, above all, how to make money with digital art. Everything I have learned so far by doing art was and is a great experience for me. I always the sound of the brush making noise and scratching the canvas when painting. I always wondered what Michelangelo or Van Gogh would be doing today with a Photoshop in their hands?

I had the honor of being able to visit the Van Gogh Museum in the Netherlands and the Matisse Museum in Nice, as well as the Sistine Chapel, the Uffizi, Picasso in Barcelona, Magritte in Belgium, etc. All of these were experiences and feelings that I have accumulated as learning in my life as an artist. I usually say that the use of AI is not just a prompt, a text, it is knowledge.

You can type whatever you want and maybe the result will be the same as everyone else's. That standard that AI gives as a result for everyone. If you use all your knowledge and experiences in AI, it can give incredible results. In reality, when you are writing a prompt, you are painting and drawing with your mind. Just because I no longer paint a physical picture doesn't change my talent and my ability. For me, it doesn't matter if it's pigment or pixels. I really enjoy creating, no matter the medium. I am an artist.
