Reflections • 1 artwork s5b1n
View allReflections is a collection of paintings where water plays the mirror, but it’s not just about the surface. Sometimes what’s reflected is the sky, sometimes it’s trees or buildings… and sometimes it’s just a mood I was trying to hold onto. These scenes aren’t always dramatic — often they’re quiet, slightly off-centre, and gently odd. Like thoughts that appear when you're not looking for them.
What links them all is that moment of stillness. When light hits water just right, and the mind does a little ripple of its own.
Unexpected Conversations • 1 artwork 3e6s34
View allUnexpected Conversations is a growing collection of portraits — some human, some not — painted from real encounters and ed moments. A chimp sitting quietly in the grass. A person caught mid-thought. A glance that lingered just long enough to mean something.
These aren’t grand, posed portraits. They’re quiet ones. Sometimes funny. Sometimes tender. Always a bit curious. I’m less interested in likeness than in the strange energy that hums between beings when nobody’s pretending.
No speeches, no narratives — just painted pauses that felt like they meant something.
Weston Turville • 5 artworks 5f5g6m
View allThis series came out of all those walks: early ones, late ones, wet ones, the “I’ll-just-pop-out” ones that turn into hour-long detours. Sometimes I stop and take a photo. Sometimes I just stare and file the light away in my head. Either way, it all ends up in the paint.
The reservoir gets its fair share of attention — reflections, ripples, all that water being moody — but so do the muddy footpaths, the clumps of nettles, and the fields that never quite dry out. These are not big, shouty landscapes. They’re local. Familiar. Slightly scruffy. But they’ve got heart.
I paint them how they feel rather than how they look. If the grass needs to be too green or the sky a bit more dramatic to tell the story, so be it. Nature bends the rules all the time — I’m just following suit.
Isle of Man • 1 artwork 47191a
View allThrough the expressive medium of oil paint, this series celebrates the interplay of light and shadow that defines the island's ever-changing weather and seasons. The luminous skies, often punctuated by shifting clouds or the golden hues of sunrise and sunset, evoke a sense of fleeting time and nature's grandeur. Meanwhile, the land—be it the rocky cliffs, lush greenery, or quaint harbours—serves as a grounding force, rich in texture and history.
This series draws inspiration not just from the island’s physical beauty but also its atmosphere of tranquillity and connection to the sea. It reflects the timeless allure of the Isle of Man, where nature and culture intertwine, offering a moment of introspection and escape to all who encounter its shores.
Each painting invites the viewer to experience the soul of this unique landscape, a place that has inspired countless stories and continues to captivate the imagination
Lake District • 2 artworks 1m2wt
View allThese paintings reflect not just the breathtaking scenery of tranquil tarns, glimmering lakes, and rugged fells but also the joy and connection we found as a family during our holidays in this inspiring region. The series draws from moments spent walking through ancient forests, exploring winding trails, and watching my children delight in the simple pleasures of playing along riverbanks and skipping stones across the still waters of the lakes.
Each piece captures the shifting moods of the landscape—the vibrant greens of summer forests, the golden warmth of valleys in autumn light, and the ever-changing reflections on the water’s surface. The interplay of light and texture in my work mirrors the emotional depth of these places: the quiet majesty of towering peaks, the serenity of forest paths, and the lively energy of rivers and streams where we spent countless happy hours as a family.
Using oil as my medium allows me to layer colours and textures, bringing the intricate details of the Lake District to life. From the rocky outcrops to the soft interplay of light and shadow, I aim to evoke the spirit of this unique region while weaving in the memories of our family’s time there.
Through "Lake District," I invite viewers to share in the serenity, drama, and timeless beauty of this iconic region. More than a depiction of its landscapes, this series is a reflection of the bonds forged in nature’s embrace, celebrating the joy and inspiration that this magical place has given to me and my loved ones.
Cityscapes • 3 artworks 71zs
View allSome are painted from sketches, others from memory or photos I’ve taken while wandering. What links them all is that feeling of being somewhere full of stories, even if most of them are never told. I like the contrast between movement and stillness, structure and spontaneity — a bus turning a corner, someone pausing to look up, or the geometry of shadows stretching across a square.
These aren’t polished postcards. They’re impressions. Snapshots of city life with all its clutter, charm, and complexity.
Wendover Canal • 5 artworks 720y
View allEach painting in the series offers a unique perspective of the canal, from its tranquil waters reflecting the sky and overhanging trees to the winding pathways that encourage exploration and reflection. The daily rhythm of walking alongside the canal reveals its dynamic nature: the golden glow of autumn, the crisp greens of spring, the soft chill of winter mornings, and the ripples of wind across the water’s surface. These moments are woven into the fabric of each work.
Through the medium of oil, I build layers of texture and colour to express the intricate details of the canal’s environment—the weathered banks, the shimmering light on water, and the life found within its peaceful surroundings. This process reflects my personal journey of discovering new nuances of the canal each day, celebrating the beauty that can be found in the familiar.
The "Wendover Canal" series invites viewers to experience the calmness and wonder of this historic waterway, celebrating its connection to nature and its role in shaping the landscape. It is a tribute not only to the canal itself but also to the inspiration and peace it offers to those who walk its paths.
Piemonte • 2 artworks a5412
View allThis series captures the essence of Piedmont’s diverse scenery, from the golden vineyards of the Langhe region to the dramatic peaks of the Alps that stand sentinel over the land. Each painting evokes the quiet beauty of these places: the sunlit valleys, the winding country roads, and the patchwork fields stretching as far as the eye can see. The interplay of light and shadow across the hills and mountains mirrors the rich textures and vibrant colours that define this unique region.
Beyond its physical beauty, the "Piemonte" series reflects a deep emotional connection to my roots. These landscapes are more than just views; they are a tapestry of memories—of walking through vineyards in the Langhe, feeling the cool mountain air of the Alps, and witnessing the changing seasons transform the rural countryside into a canvas of ever-shifting hues. This region’s rhythm of life, steeped in tradition and connection to the land, is a constant source of inspiration.
Through the use of oil, I bring depth and warmth to each piece, layering textures and tones to reflect both the physical landscape and the emotional resonance it carries. The rugged edges of the Alps, the soft, rolling hills of the Langhe, and the vibrant energy of rural life are brought to life in this series.
"Piemonte" is an invitation to explore the beauty, history, and soul of this remarkable region. It is a celebration of the land that has shaped me, an homage to the timeless charm of Piedmont’s rural heart, and a reflection of the profound connection between nature, memory, and art.
