La obra Batalla de Constantino representa una escena alegórica y fragmentada que remite al universo visual tan característico de Antoni Pitxot. A través de un conjunto de formas rocosas con apariencia antropomórfica, el artista construye un paisaje onírico que sugiere una confrontación épica, envuelta en una atmósfera cromáticamente intensa y expresiva. El cielo rosado y las texturas matéricas refuerzan la tensión dramática de la composición, evocando ruinas, cuerpos y relieves que parecen emerger de la tierra misma.
En esta obra, Pitxot aplica su técnica minuciosa y su estilo personalísimo, donde la ambigüedad visual estimula la imaginación del espectador, desdibujando los límites entre figura y paisaje, entre historia y símbolo.
Antoni Pitxot i Soler (Figueres, 1934 – Barcelona, 2015) fue un pintor catalán singular y profundamente vinculado a la tradición surrealista. Nacido en una familia de artistas —su tío fue Ramon Pichot, amigo de Picasso y Dalí—, Pitxot se formó desde muy joven en el dibujo y la pintura. Su vida artística dio un giro definitivo cuando se instaló en Cadaqués, donde desarrolló su universo visual a partir de piedras erosionadas recogidas en la costa.
Su obra, que a menudo roza lo escultórico, muestra composiciones orgánicas construidas con piedras reales que luego transfiere al lienzo. A través de estas formas, crea alegorías que evocan figuras humanas, mitos arcaicos y visiones de la naturaleza petrificada.
