Dariusz Witold Mierzwa is a contemporary artist born in 1959 in Chorzów, Poland. His artistic journey has been multi-faceted, beginning with his graduation from art school. Initially focused on sculpture and scenography, Mierzwa created musical performances and concerts while working on various television and film productions for Polish Television. His fascination with computer technology eventually led him to explore new fields of artistic expression.

Mierzwa works primarily with digital image technology, computer animations, and digital design. He skillfully combines traditional painting and drawing techniques with digital imagery, experimenting and searching for new possibilities within the art world. His paintings delve into the metaphysical aspects of the material world, exploring themes that transcend the ordinary and invite viewers to reflect on existence and the universe.

Throughout his career, Mierzwa has presented his work at numerous exhibitions and auctions across the globe, including notable events in Milan, Berlin, Venice, the USA, , Italy, , and the United Arab Emirates. His art consistently seeks to reveal deeper truths about the human experience, often intertwining surreal visions with philosophical insights.

In recognition of his unique vision that blends tradition with modernity, Mierzwa received international acclaim from Hervé Lancelin, the Artistic Director of the Pinakothek in Luxembourg. He was awarded the Luxembourg Art Prize in both 2022 and 2023.

A significant aspect of Mierzwa's art is the fusion of traditional painting techniques with modern digital technologies. His use of photographs and photographic sketches serves as a foundation for his works, adding depth and a contemporary form to his artistic practice. He creates paintings, photography, and digital art, often intertwining various media to produce a distinctive style that innovatively connects the past with the future.

In addition to his artistic endeavors, Mierzwa is actively engaged in social initiatives, leading workshops on IT, smartphones, and AI programming. He views digital technology as a tool to enhance creativity and broaden artistic reach rather than a threat to traditional art forms, demonstrating his commitment to fostering innovation in the arts.
