About the author 6i2t4e
Michel Michaux is a contemporary artist from Belgium with a lifelong ion for drawing and painting. From a young age, he was captivated by paper, sketching flowers and trucks as early as three years old, and focusing primarily on flowers by the age of twelve. His artistic journey took a significant turn with the discovery of oil painting, leading him to pursue art more seriously. However, his ambitions to formally study at the Beaux-Arts were curtailed by strict parental expectations. With his father being an architect, Michaux was enrolled in an architecture school, yet he secretly attended art classes at the Beaux-Arts in Mons, Tournai, and Brussels.
At 21, Michaux had the opportunity to focus on painting, but financial constraints forced him to pursue a more lucrative career. As a result, painting became a secondary occupation until 1995, when he was finally able to dedicate himself fully to his art.
Michaux is currently based in Nice, a location that inspires him with its sea sports, maritime scenes, and expansive natural landscapes. He spent several years in Saint-André-les-Alpes before returning to Belgium, where he set up a workshop in the picturesque village of Nismes, near Couvin. There, he continues to create his art, surrounded by the tranquility of the countryside.
