Parallèlement à son travail de photographe , Fabian da Costa s'est toujours intéressé aux techniques anciennes de la photographie - de la'' slow photographie '' de l'Amérique du Nord, en ant par les procédés comme l'héliographe de Nicéphore Niepce, le cyanotype, la gomme bicromatée, le virage aux sels d'or auprès de Denis Brihat, avant de découvrir le Doretype, ou tirage photographique sur un fond de feuille d 'or.L'or brille à travers le médium photographique, en fait un objet précieux, en révèle la nature profonde.

Fabian da Costa D'origine brésilienne, Fabian da Costa s'est très tôt intéressé à l'image fixe ou en mouvement. Après une maîtrise de Portugais, un certificat d'Etudes Cinématographiques accompagné d'une formation pratique dans l'atelier de Jean Rouch à l'Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes à Paris, il complète sa formation par un DEA en Art Byzantin à Lyon, et commence à travailler comme photographe et documentariste. Crée le cours d’Esthétique de la photographie à l’Université Stendal de Grenoble où il enseigne de 1990 à 2000. Il est l'auteur de plus de trente livres photographiques, souvent accompagnés par des textes écrits par sa femme, Anne da Costa. Il partage son temps et ses projets entre la et l’Inde où il travaille de 2007 à 2017 dans le cadre d’un projet scientifique de l’Université de Tübingen (Allemagne ) Il est membre de l'Agence Gamma-Rapho et de l'agence BIOS QUELQUES EXPOSITIONS parmi bien d'autres 1969 à 1971 - Salons Comparaisons et Salon Grands et Jeunes d'Aujourd'hui (Paris, Grand Palais) 1994.
