Toen het af was miste ik iets. Voor mij ontbrak er diepte, een extra element, een verhaal, iets mysterieus. De beelden van Toni Cragg inspireerden me. Ik schilderde met aquarelverf figuren op kalkpapier. Ze staan buiten de piste en houden een oogje in het zeil. Ze zorgen voor een mysterieuze sfeer en doen ons eraan herinneren dat we alles op alles moeten zetten voor het behoud van onze planeet.

Ilse Joris was born in Leopoldstad (1958), currently Kinshasha in Congo. She lives in Kontich in the province of Antwerp.
As a former teacher of ethics, she is very commited with social themes. The spectator is encouraged to come out of his comfort zone. A lot of her art works has disted objects at first sight. This invites the spectator to look with other glasses to art.
