Isabelle Mathis is an artist enameler of art on metals.

The alchemist enameler.

Her enamel workshop is located in Haute Vienne ( Limousin) in Saint Léger la Montagne on the site of a former Templar mill. She exhibits her latest works there and practices all the ancestral methods of enamel: painted enamel, champlevé, cloisonné, grisaille with Limoges white, brasswork and copper work. It also organizes enamel training in the form of an internship or workshop.

After basic initial training at the art school in Limoges, the city of fire arts. Isabelle enriched her initiatory journey by meeting and working with her masters in and abroad - in Russia in particular -.
Her work is dynamic and varied, the fruit of long apprenticeships and meetings with her masters, watercolorists, ceramists, coppersmiths, renowned enamellers. His work is also instinctive. Drawing, painting, sculpture and enamel are all vectors allowing her to express her emotions, her moods.

She participated and won an award at the last Biennale of art enamels on metals from Saint Petersburg “Mirror of the world”, in May 2017. His enamel presented on this occasion, “Expedition 50 from the earth for the earth” was inspired by the photographs of Thomas Pesquet taken from the international space station. This work ed the collection of the Stieglitz Museum of Applied Arts in Saint Petersburg. She is still exhibited there.
In addition, this trip allowed her to interact with renowned Russian artists as part of MasterClass. Since this experience, she works without prior drawing with much more spontaneity. Using this technique, Ella produced around twenty works constituting her “sacred enamel” series.
Throughout November 2017 she is exhibiting in Italy at the Museo Nacional de Artes del Fuego “Villa Vertua de Nova Milanes ( province of Milan).
In February 2018 her works are exhibited for a personal exhibition at the Galerie Cinq in Limoges and she is preparing another exhibition at the Ligugé Abbey in the heart of the Enamel Museum which is full of inspired pieces by great artists such as Chagall, Braque…
From April to August 2018 one of these works occupies a prestigious place in Taiwan in an enamel exhibition of international scope.
Discovering the achievements of Isabelle Mathis means letting yourself be guided by her imagination and her vision of the world. The one who sees, the one who touches the work, becomes its actor. He makes his own interpretation of it and it is an inexhaustible source of renewal for the artist
