Glossy finish

About our fine printsAt the time wild bison still roamed the secluded area with wild deer and elk. Notorious for collecting horns and skulls my grandfather put together a massive collection of pieces that littered the countryside.
What fascinated me as a very young child was the worn surfaces, and bleached color. It wasn't the trash we knew from the city!
What I understood from him was such bones represented the wests enduring beauty, the strength and fortitude it took to build their lives there and the rugged American spirit.
L'un de mes premiers souvenirs est la propriété de mes grands-parents à Hartsel, Colorado, près de Lake George. C'était construit brique par brique et rondin par rondin avec l'aide de mon père.
À l'époque, des bisons sauvages parcouraient encore la zone isolée avec des cerfs et des wapitis sauvages. Célèbre pour collectionner des cornes et des crânes, mon grand-père a rassemblé une énorme collection de pièces qui jonchaient la campagne.
Ce qui me fascinait quand j'étais très jeune, c'était les surfaces usées et les couleurs blanchies. Ce n’était pas les déchets que nous connaissions en ville !
Ce que j'ai compris de lui, c'est que ces ossements représentaient la beauté durable de l'Ouest, la force et le courage qu'il fallait pour y construire leur vie et l'esprit robuste des Américains.
