Artist loves to listen to audiobooks while painting in her studio. One of her favourite topics is mythology. Circe, in Greek legend, a sorceress, the daughter of Helios, the sun god, and of the ocean nymph Perse. Circe was renowned for her vast knowledge of potions and herbs. Through the use of these and a magic wand or staff, she would transform her enemies or those who offended her, into animals. Artist believes that we all possess some of that magic:)
This is an original acrylic painting. Julia Hacker's paintings trick the eye with their abstract brushstrokes and representational images. Blue, green colours and elements of plants in this oversized artwork create a sense of mystery.
Painting ships rolled in a tube.

Julia Hacker is a Toronto-based multidisciplinary artist. She is working in a variety of traditional and mixed mediums, including oil, acrylic paint, handmade collage, and illustration. Hacker is an Elected Member of the Canadian Society of Artists and a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists. Her artworks are in private collections in Canada, the USA, and Europe.

Julia Hacker's art and her life are intertwined. She desires to learn how to live in the moment, and to search for awareness. The artist draws inspiration from the immediate world around,  rhythmic changes in nature, close encounters with the vagaries of human emotion. While creating, the artist is thinking about the detached creative destruction in mother nature, knowing that eventually, it will bring to new growth.
