Die Bilder sind vom japanischen Konzept des MA inspiriert. MA stellt die Leere dar, welche voll von Möglichkeiten ist. MA handelt von der Beziehung und dem Raum zwischen den Objekten, Formen, Tönen, Wörtern,… .
Es beschreibt die Dialektik zwischen Form und Nicht - Form, Fülle und Leere, Ton und Stille.
Die Bilder der Serie Time Islands sollen einen meditativen Raum für den Betrachter schaffen, Oasen für ein heiteres Dasein und Ruhepole im unendlichen Bilderstrom sein.
Es geht dabei um den gegenwärtigen Augenblick der Entstehung und der Betrachtung des Bildes, in dem die Zeit still zu stehen scheint. Eine Insel im Strom der Zeit. Zeitloser Raum entsteht.

Kann man die Zeit malen?
Kann man die Zeitlosigkeit darstellen? Wie ist die Zeit geformt in unseren inneren Landschaften? Das sind Fragen, die mich bei der Arbeit an den Bildern bewegen.
Das Motiv von Fülle und Leere
Die Leere als zeitloser Raum und notwendige Voraussetzung für den durch unser Leben und die Zeit belebten Raum.
Die Fülle als belebter Raum, in dem das menschliche Leben einen ständigen Wandel in Zeit und Raum bewirkt. Die Leere ist dabei Bedingung und Möglichkeit großer Fülle in unserem Leben.
Wie kann ich die Leere und den durch sie ermöglichten ständigen Wandel in Raum und Zeit darstellen und wie es den Betrachtern der Bilder ermöglichen, diesen Wandel in der eigenen Existenz wahrzunehmen?
Das Ziel ist es, zeitlose Landschaften zu malen. Wolken, Wasser, Licht und Bäume thematisieren mit ihrer Flüchtigkeit den stetigen Wandel und die Substanzlosigkeit der Zeit. Dabei geht es nicht um eine unmittelbare Darstellung einzelner Landschaften, sondern um deren lichtdurchflutete, existenzielle Dimension. Die Bilder sollen einen meditativen Raum schaffen und dem Betrachter die Gelegenheit geben, darin zu verweilen.
Inspirationen sind für mich zum einen die Landschaften der Nordseeküste, die vorgelagerten Inseln und das Wattenmeer. Zeitlos ist das ständig wechselnde Licht auf dem Meer und der Wolkenfluss am Himmel.
Die Wolken stehen für eine sich ständig verändernde Welt. Die Wolken warten auf niemanden. Jeder Augenblick wird von einem anderen abgelöst. Wir balancieren dazwischen auf dem schmalen Grat der Gegenwart.
Eine zweite wesentliche Inspirationsquelle für mich sind die Gärten japanischer Zenklöster . Beim Betrachten von Sand und Steinen in den Kare – san – sui (Trockengärten) entsteht ein Gefühl der Zeitlosigkeit. Die Formen sind einfach und Vollkommenheit wird vermieden. In den leeren Räumen, den Sandflächen und den Steinen können wir eine Fülle erkennen, wenn wir bereit sind, sie wahrzunehmen.
Im übertragenen Sinne gilt dies auch für die Bilder von KS.
