Magali Lefrançois is a contemporary Canadian artist born in 1973, in Montreal. She grew up in a thriving cultural environment, nurtured by parents who loved the arts. From a very young age, she developed a close friendship with the painter Miljenko Horvat, a family friend whom she considers her mentor. In 1997, Horvat presented his drawings at the Musée du site de la Création Franche in Bègles, , and included some of Lefrançois' works, which are now part of the museum's permanent collection.
In 1997, already a freelance graphic designer, Lefrançois began a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Quebec in Montreal. Two years later, she met a gallery owner who organized automotive art events. While continuing her studies, she began producing oil paintings of classic and Formula 1 cars, exhibiting at these events and engaging in live painting sessions.
After graduating in 2002, Lefrançois embarked on a 20-year career as a scenic painter for film sets. Despite the demands of this job, she also illustrated literary works for the publishing house XYZ from 2004 to 2007, gave painting lessons, and trained as a dog trainer.
In 2021, seeking tranquility and a connection with nature, she left Montreal and moved to the Charlevoix region. Lefrançois' creation is based on capturing the precious moment where object and light form a dynamic balance.
