In my painting, I wanted to capture the vibrant, pulsating life of a quaint coastal town. Using bold, expressive colors typical of fauvism and layered, textured strokes inspired by impressionism, I sought to evoke the lively atmosphere of a sunny harbor. The bright facades of the buildings and the shimmering reflections on the water suggest the beauty of the fleeting moments, connecting viewers to the essence of a vibrant, bustling setting that feels both inviting and electric. This piece brings a burst of color and energy, ideal for enlivening any space it inhabits.

Maja Djokic Mihajlovic, a contemporary award-winning Serbian painter, has carved her niche in the world of art through a unique perspective that captures the essence of urban landscapes from a bird's-eye view. Her artistic evolution unfolds as a captivating narrative of her favorite motifs. Her oeuvre is a testament to the continuity in her exploration of specific urban vistas, which she keenly observes and meticulously translates onto her canvas. What distinguishes her work are the prominent roles assigned to the elements that often go unnoticed from ground level – the intricate roof coverings of houses, the interplay of light and shadows on their surfaces, the solidity of walls, and the subtle presence of trees.

In her art, the symbolism of rooftops holds a profound significance. Beyond their physical representation, they carry universal associations. Roofs serve as the dividing line between the heavens and the earth, acting as both shelter and guardian of our living spaces. Artist's paintings evoke a sense of security, inviting viewers to contemplate the sanctuaries that these rooftops symbolize.

Djokic Mihajlovic's formal education at The Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade, specializing in the Painting Department under the tutelage of Professor Milica Stevanović, laid the foundation for her artistic journey. Her artistic prowess was recognized by the artistic community, leading her to become a member of the ULUS (Association of Fine Artists of Serbia) in 1997. In recognition of her exceptional talent and commitment, she obtained the coveted status of an independent artist in 2000, a testament to her remarkable contributions to the world of Serbian art.

Maja Đokić Mihajlović's artistic legacy is marked by a prolific output that includes seventeen individual exhibitions. Her work has also graced more than a hundred group exhibitions within Serbia and abroad, showcasing the universality of her themes and the resonance of her artistry across cultures. Furthermore, she actively participated in numerous painting colonies, enriching her artistic experiences and broadening her horizons.
