Marie-Pierre Autonne is a contemporary French painter known for her captivating depictions of nature and abstract works. Born in Paris in 1960, she began her artistic journey with the Montessori and Martenot methods, taking drawing and painting lessons while studying graphic design at Met de Penninghen on Rue du Dragon. Her dual career as a graphic designer and travel guide took her to diverse horizons, from the Himalayas to the Cape of Good Hope, profoundly shaping her sensitivity to beauty, time, and the vibrant diversity of the world.
In 2009, Marie-Pierre relocated to Montreal, where she dedicated herself entirely to painting. Drawn to the unique texture of Quebec birch wood, she used it as a foundation for her art. Sharing a studio, “L’oeuf 425,” with fellow artists yCluca and Stanley Février, she explored two distinct artistic sensibilities: dynamic abstractions rich in color and material experimentation, and evocative works inspired by Quebec's untamed landscapes.
Returning to in 2015, she settled in Valence, where the Drôme's fleeting beauty inspired her close observations of nature. Her work was exhibited in venues such as Hôtel de Flandresy, Orangerie de Montéléger, and Jardin Médiéval d'Uzès, as well as at 104 Kléber in Paris. In 2020, she moved to the Loire near Angers, where the river's majesty and its serene tributaries became central to her art. Her love of rowing further deepened her connection to the water's tranquility, trees, and ever-changing skies.
Marie-Pierre Autonne’s paintings invite viewers to pause and immerse themselves in their beauty, offering moments of energy and serenity for the eyes and soul alike.
