My ion for the natural world has inspired my art since I first put pencil to paper as child. I grew up on forests and our home’s lil garden. It was there that my love for nature and wilderness flourished. As I have grown I have combined my love for animals with my interest in both wildlife biology and mythology to create artwork that speaks to the current biological mythos that constructs the barrier between what is considered Human, and what is considered Animal.

I hope to remind those who view my artwork that we too are animals, embedded in this fragile world even as we poison it.

My art-works alludes to the boundaries that separate humans from animals both physically and metaphysically, and the way in which these boundaries are warped by science, mythology, and religion alike..

Hello there!

I’m Merve Gurlek, a professional industrial designer and artist. I’m thrilled that you’ve found your way here. Please take a moment to explore my story and my collection of artworks. Since I first put pencil to paper as a child, my ion for the natural world has been a constant source of inspiration for my art. Growing up surrounded by forests and our family’s little garden, I developed a deep love for nature and the wilderness.

As I’ve matured, I’ve blended my love for animals with my fascination for both wildlife biology and mythology to create artwork that delves into the current biological narratives that define the boundary between what is considered human and what is considered animal.

Through my art, I aim to serve as a reminder that we, too, are animals, deeply interconnected with this delicate world, even as we inadvertently harm it. My artworks subtly hint at the boundaries that separate humans from animals, both in the physical and metaphysical sense, and explore how these boundaries are influenced by the realms of science, mythology, and religion alike.

Your interest in my work means a great deal to me, and I’m here to assist you with any questions or inquiries you may have. Thank you for being a part of my creative journey.

Warm regards,
Merve
