The painting visualises a woman obsessed with compulsive sexual desire. She is depicted in a seductive pose on top of male figures - symbols of promiscuity, emotional alienation and meaningless repetition. Her body is a conduit of desire, not feeling. The surface of the illustration is permeated by the tension between attraction and devastation, instinct and self-destruction. A woman with nymphomania suffers from compulsive sexual fantasies, loses control over urges, and uses intimate as an escape from anxiety, loneliness, and inner pain. Often suffers from infections and experiences suicidal thoughts. The condition is not satisfying - only addictive.
Symbolic: a reference to zoology - the female praying mantis biting off the head of the male after mating. This emphasises the destructive, instinctive nature of attraction, in which there is no room for reciprocity or care. The heroine of the illustration feels no love - only an overwhelming urge.
From the patient's recollections: "I can't stop. I am attracted to men, their bodies and strength drive me crazy. I feel no emotion, only boundless desire."
Gustave Flaubert, "Madame Bovary": "She surrendered to him as before, completely without resistance..."

Nolan Trace is a psychiatrist and self-taught artist who transforms clinical knowledge into visual form. His work is grounded in medical science and years of psychiatric practice, offering a rare synthesis of diagnostic precision and emotional depth.
Since 2018, he has been creating Atlas of Madness — a growing series of hand-drawn illustrations depicting mental disorders. These are not abstract fantasies, but visual anatomies of inner suffering: each image is based on real psychopathology, shaped by the artist’s direct experience with patients and his deep understanding of the human psyche.
His medium — alcohol markers on textured watercolor paper — allows for vivid, emotionally charged expression. Each piece is made entirely by hand and may require up to 20 hours of focused work. Every line and color choice is intentional, rooted in psychiatric meaning.
Prices reflect not only the materials and time, but the depth of medical insight and the ethical responsibility behind the work. These are not just drawings — they are acts of translation from clinical reality into a universal visual language.
Nolan’s long-term vision includes exhibitions, high-quality prints, and the publication of a book: Atlas of Madness — a visual map of mental illness aimed at education, empathy, and destigmatisation.
“Psychiatry is not just a science. It’s the art of empathy.”Through his work, Nolan invites viewers to look closer, feel deeper, and understand what is often left unseen.
