“Spell” – Crystallized Glow In The Dark Sculpture

All you need is to hear the voice of your heart

This work is sculpted from Cosclay (flexible polymer clay) and crystallized. I grow crystals directly on the sculpture. Actually, crystals never ask how they should grow:) They often grow pretty randomly. That makes the piece especially unique. I also use acrylic paints pigments and metal.

CRYSTALLIZED SCULPTURES CARE

I work with stable types of crystals. These crystals don’t crumble or turn to dust over time. Properly cared they will retain their beauty and luster for a lifetime. However, it’s essential to take note of a few considerations to ensure your crystallized pieces remain in their pristine condition forever and ever:

– Works must be kept indoors only.

– Although crystals are fairly robust, they are still less durable than stones, behaving somewhat like glass. I take the extra step of fixing them onto the sculpture’s surface, ensuring they remain firmly in place. However, please be careful as even with these measures, the sculpture could still be damaged if dropped.

– Please ensure that crystallized artwork is kept away from both water and direct sunlight. Crystals are water-soluble!! Be careful, do not expose them to water or other liquids. Sunlight can negatively affect on the paints.

– The best solution will be isolating artworks into display boxes or frames (depending on the form of the piece) to protect them from dust, differentials of temperature, and moisture. Limiting the impact of these external factors allows keeping as crystals as a whole sculpture in their original state for centuries.

– Adding lighting can truly make the crystals sparkle and shine mesmerizingly! Make sure that you’re using cold light sources like LED to enhance their beauty. Although, actually crystals are able to withstand high temperatures, it is important to avoid thermal effects on polymer clay part of sculpture.

– Crystals are non-toxic. But they are still NOT EDIBLE.
Please, do not try to taste them!!! As well as other parts of artwork by the way:)

Svetlana is a mixed media artist known for crafting whimsical, otherworldly beings under her brand, HandmadeHome. Her art combines polymer clay with crystallization processes, blending elements of nature, chemistry, and fantasy to sculpt enchanting creatures that seem to come from a hidden dimension. In her work, Svetlana explores “The Unknown”—a mysterious, ever-present reality waiting to be discovered—revealing invisible realms within our familiar world. Her creations embody the essence of fantastical flora and fauna, as she draws inspiration from natural forms, infusing them with moods and emotions to give them unique personalities.

Art has been a lifelong pursuit for Svetlana, who recalls always having creative tools at hand. Despite earning a university degree in Interior Design in 2006, her ion for art led her down a different path, eventually inspiring her to commit fully to her craft. Though self-taught in sculpture, she is a tireless researcher, constantly experimenting to expand her skills. Over the years, she has explored a variety of mediums, including glass mosaics, polymer clay, textile sculptures, and art jewelry. She has also taken courses in photography, painting, and digital arts to further refine her techniques and express her magical vision.

Today, Svetlana focuses primarily on mixed media sculptures, favoring polymer clay and incorporating natural crystals that she grows directly onto her pieces. Her work has gained international recognition, showcased in exhibitions, and featured in private collections worldwide. Additionally, she is an official ambassador for Cosclay, a brand known for its flexible polymer clay, which s her creative journey in blending fantasy with reality.
