Liar, liar, your pants are on fire. You've got a nose as long as a telephone wire. I swear to tell the truth. Nothing but the truth. So help me God. I cross my heart and hope to die. These are the words we use. To get out of situations. Then I wonder why. We don't mean what we say. Then I ed the terrible truth. About the truth. If you stand [...]

Tosin Oyeniyi, a contemporary Nigerian printmaking artist, gained attention as a compelling presence after earning his first degree at the esteemed Obafemi Awolowo University. There, he focused on Fine and Applied Arts, specializing in graphic design.

Since embarking on his professional journey in 2015, Tosin has remained dedicated to his craft, residing in Ibadan, Nigeria. His artistic style seamlessly blends naturalism and post-expressionism, as he intricately portrays the rich and diverse beauty, stories, sceneries, and culture of Africa to the global audience through Prints (LINOCUT).

Through his art, Tosin endeavors to showcase and export the vast and often underappreciated African culture and customs to the world. His works serve as a narrative of Africa's history, socio-economic development, and the struggles faced by its people, including the plight of the poor, the challenges of African women, the struggles of out-of-school children, and the hardships of the homeless. However, amidst these struggles, Tosin also depicts the contentment and hope of the average African family, set against the backdrop of their rich agrarian environment.

Tosin's art challenges conventional ideas and styles, aiming to evoke contemplation and introspection on issues of peaceful co-existence and prosperity within a serene environment, without delving into political commentary.

His unique perspective as an indigenous artist from a modest background coupled with modern education makes his ethos relatable, portraying real-life situations of black people. Tosin's works have been featured in numerous virtual and on-site art exhibitions both locally and internationally, including notable events such as WF23 (Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair, London UK, 2023), ART Santa Fe (New Mexico, USA, 2023), and Contemporary Linocut (Kingsborough Art Museum, New York City, 2022). Through his art, Tosin Oyeniyi continues to make a significant impact, bridging cultural divides and connecting the world through the universal language of art.
